Solstice Photowalk

It’s time for our first in person gathering in almost a year and a half! Join Wasatch Camera Club as we meet at Essential Photo Supply in Salt Lake City and then go on a photowalk ... together! This event takes place on June 23rd and what better way to celebrate the longer days of the summer solstice!

The owners of Essential Photo Supply will welcome us and give us a chance to see their new store. From there, we will go on a photowalk to Liberty Park, just 4 blocks away. 

Opportunities abound at Liberty Park for photography. People are out and about; picnicking, exercising, and playing games. There will be ample opportunity for street style, action, bird and dog photography. We will watch for solstice light, patterns, shadows, reflections, birds and storytelling moments.

A couple weeks after the photowalk, we will convene on Zoom to share what people have captured.  It’s fascinating how differently we see and what we choose to share. The Zoom meeting will be open to all members of the Wasatch Camera Club, with photowalk participants sharing and others observing.

ThIngs you should know:

• Life is better now with the availability of COVID vaccines. Please be considerate of WCC members and the community, and follow local guidelines for COVID safety. At this time, Essentials Photo Supply is asking customers to wear masks and practice social distancing while in their store. Do not attend the photowalk if you are sick or have symptoms of any illness.
• We are limiting this outing to 20 people, with 2 groups and 2 leaders for the photowalk. Registration will be open through Sunday, June 20th. We will use a lottery to choose participants, if necessary, and selectees will be notified by Monday, June 21st via email. Registration is for one member only. We don’t want to overcrowd the store or get in each other's way while shooting.
• If you are selected by lottery, please notify us if you cannot attend at . We will offer the opening to the next person in line in the lottery. Please do not select a person to fill your spot.
• The Zoom image review will be held on July 7th. All WCC members are invited to attend. Photowalk participants can share up to 5 images and are  encouraged to submit up to ten images for posting on the WCC gallery site.  Information on where to send images will be provided after the event. (No email? Check you junk mailbox!) All WCC members are invited to the Zoom image review.
• This event will be held rain or shine. 
• This is a great setting for traveling light and does not require any special equipment. Bring what you are comfortable shooting.
