Description

flutterby"Butterflies are self-propelled flowers." -- Robert Heinlein

Join us on Monday, January 27, at the Thanksgiving Point Butterfly Biosphere, to photograph the approximately 1000 butterflies that are free to roam throughout the 10,000 square foot conservatory. We will meet inside the Biosphere at 6:00 PM. The venue is open until 8:00 PM.

Participants will be responsible for purchasing their own tickets. Tickets should be purchased ahead of time on the Thanksgiving Point website to ensure availability. Ticket prices are $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for seniors (65+). The tickets guarantee a timed entry. You must enter within 30 minutes of the time on your ticket.

All photography must be done from the walkways. A zoom lens in the range 80-200 or 100-400 is suggested. Tripods are not allowed, but monopods are. A flash or led light panel might be handy. Inside, the biosphere is quite warm and humid: about 80 degrees and 80 percent humidity. Winter clothing will not be comfortable. Light pants and short sleeve shirts are recommended. There are coat racks at the entrance for hanging your outerwear.

Please remember that this trip is for members only.
