Images of the American West – Exhibit Submissions Now Open

Submissions open now through July 26. The American West has long captured the imagination as a place of vast horizons, hard light, and quiet resilience—a landscape that shapes the people, creatures, and stories within it. This exhibition invites photographers to explore that enduring mythology and its modern realities, from the weathered faces of ranchers, rodeo riders, and indigenous people, to the sweep of red rock canyons, high desert plains, and coastal waterfronts; from the solitary wildlife that roam sagebrush and mountain wilderness to the small towns and highways that thread the region together. We welcome images across all subjects—portraiture, landscape, and wildlife alike—that capture the West not as a single fixed idea, but as a living, evolving place: rugged and tender, mythic and ordinary, remembered and reimagined. Exhibit details: This exhibit will be hanging at the Heritage Museum of Layton from August 31 through October 2.  Drop off can take place anytime prior to August 25 during the Museum’s normal business hours. Framing of images is not necessary but a wire or cleat is required.  Printing to gator board with a gator hook is an acceptable inexpensive option, in lieu of framing or metal printing.  The final piece should be no larger than 30″ on the longer side. Members may submit up to three images, which can all be unrelated, or may be a three part representation of a particular theme. The museum is not set up to handle sales of prints.  However, the image label may include your contact information, or a QR code directing viewers to your website if you have one.
