Swaner Eco Center Private Wetlands Guided Tour

Bri Cencak will be our guide for this wetlands tour and has laid out the itinerary:

When: Saturday, May 10th at 8:00am ·  

Who: up to 20 adults / This event will be auto capped and create a waitlist if more than 20 sign up. 

Where: The wetlands of the Swaner Preserve We will start your tour from Swaner EcoCenter There is no parking lot directly in front of the Eco Center. If you have a difficult time finding us, you can search for Maxwell’s.  We are located in the same plaza as the restaurant. Additional information about parking can be found here. ·    

What to wear and bring: We will be walking on uneven but flat terrain: please come prepared with solid, waterproof hiking shoes or boots, long pants, a hat, appropriate layers for the weather, water bottle, sunglasses, and sunscreen. During May, the wetlands tend to be wet and muddy! We have muck boots available for participants to borrow. Additional info: ·    

Payment  The cost of the tour is $25/person. We will take care of payment when you arrive. ·

Here is an itinerary I put together for your group.
8:00 AM: Meet at Swaner Eco Center
8:00-8:05 AM: Intro to Swaner Preserve and Eco Center
8:05-8:45 AM: Opportunity to observe and photograph wildlife from the back deck. Participants may see Sandhill cranes, red-winged blackbirds, barn swallows, chickadees, and more!
8:45-9:00 AM: Carpool to different access point on Preserve (near 1000 Cutter Lane)
9:00-9:45 AM: Opportunity to observe and photograph wildlife near wetland ponds. Participants may see waterfowl, Sandhill cranes, elk, coyote, and more!
9:45-10:00 AM: Carpool back to Swaner Eco Center & wrap up tour
 
Afterwards we will decide if we want to stay and shoot some more or head out to brunch.
