JRPT_On_Assignment_2The Jordan River Parkway Trail (JRPT) is a gem of the Wasatch Front. It is a multi-use trail that follows the Jordan River as it flows from Utah Lake to the Great Salt Lake. The paved trail allows for walking, skating, biking and other non-motorized travel. Some portions also have equestrian paths. Most of the trails run very close to the river. For more information about the trail, including printable maps, use this link https://jordanrivercommission.com/thetrail/.

The photographic opportunities along the JRPT are endless. Trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses line the banks of the river providing home for many species of birds and waterfowl, including pelicans. Parks and fishing ponds can be found adjacent to the trail.

For this On Assignment, we’re asking you to take images at one or more spots along the JRPT. If you have a favorite spot, go there. But we also encourage you to investigate some area of the trail you’re not familiar with. If you’ve never explored the trail, why not pick a section nearest home and maybe a couple in other areas.

The ultimate goal of this assignment, besides our usual sharing session, is to be able to display our images on a Google Map. We’ll be asking that you submit your geo-tagged photos to the Wasatch Camera Club Gallery (email: galleries@wasatchcameraclub.com), similar to what we do for other field trips. We may also look for an exhibit venue to display selected images. If you’re not familiar with geo-tagging here are a couple of links to videos explaining methods of adding location data to photos – one with Lightroom and another with a standalone location setting program:

So, start exploring now and be ready to share your images during the Zoom meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 16. at 6:30 PM. Select up to seven of your most interesting images to share that evening. (For the gallery that will be built for this event we will accept up to 15 of your images.)

If you have any questions, email them to daytrips@wasatchcameraclub.com.

As usual, this event is for members so please register. Upon registration you will be emailed a confirmation with the Zoom link.
