We have all seen those iconic shots taken in Monument Valley. Mile Marker 13, Forrest Gump Point, Artist’s Point, the Totem Pole and the Mittens are just a few. Join us on a club trip to Monument Valley March 20-23 , 2025.  This three day weekend of photography will cover sunrises, sunsets and everything in between.  We will plan on meeting at a location to be determined at around 3:00 p.m. on March 20. Since many locations are only accessible with a guide, we have arranged for an optional guided sunrise and sunset adventure.  The cost is $250.00 per person, half of which will be due upon complete registration (see further registration details below).  Attendees are responsible to pay the remaining half when we meet the guide.  (Please remember that the guides appreciate gratuity.)

If you elect not to join the guided outing, you will be on your own during the sunrise and sunset times that day, March 21st.  The sunrise/sunset outings are each 3 hours long, and will take us into Monument Valley for the dawn colors, and Mystery Valley for the evening. On March 22, we will have time on our own to photograph.  At 3:00 p.m., we will depart for an optional overnight camp trip to Hunt’s Mesa where we can capture everything from sunset to night skies to sunrise.  The guide will provide tents and sleeping bags (although it is recommended that you bring your own sleeping bag) and will prepare a cowboy steak dinner and breakfast.  The additional cost of this adventure is $450.  Again, half of this must be paid as deposit with your complete registration, should you be selected in the lottery.

If you don’t choose the Hunt’s Mesa option, you will be on your own until the group returns at around 11:00 a.m. on March 23.  We’ll all meet up for lunch and then departure! Lodging will be on your own, and you will need to book reservations soon.  There are a number of options, including camping, nearby and more expensive hotels, and more affordable motels in Kayenta.  You can browse for accommodations here.  Remember that if you elect the Hunt’s Mesa trip, you will not need a motel room for the night of March 22.

Important registration information

In order to provide the best experience for all participants, we will limit the group size to 12.  If more than 12 people register, we will conduct a lottery for spots after registration closes.  Therefore, the initial registration will give you a place in the lottery.  After registration closes on December 8 (noon MT), we will conduct the lottery if needed.  If you are selected, you will be notified and provided a link where you can pay your NONREFUNDABLE deposits for the optional guided trips.  If payment is not received within 24 hours, the link will expire, and your spot on our trip will be offered to someone else.  The deposit is necessary to reserve our place with the guide.

If you have questions about the trip, please contact our Field Trips Director.  If you have questions about either of the tours, you may call our guide, Carl, directly.
